Pre-Engineered I-Joist

I-Joists are engineered wood joists, which have great strength in relation to size and weight. They are stronger pound for pound than conventional wood joists.

The advantage of I-Joists is they are far less likely to split, shrink, twist, warp or crown meaning a floor with fewer squeaks.

More notably, I-Joists have longer span capabilities than conventional lumber, which means fewer bearing points and more open living space.

Our designers will ensure you receive an engineered floor system that meets or exceeds the National Building Code of Canada. We will review your plans and determine, using applicable engineering software, the Joist size requirements for your particular spans. Floors may be provided as a complete system, which includes

I-Joists, rimboard, LVLs and connectors. Systems will come with engineering and layout drawings to assist you with installation and conclude a framing inspection.

Floor Trusses - Other Alternatives to Conventional Floor Framing

JAG Roof trusses is also a supplier of flat chord wood web and metal web Posi-Strut floor trusses for residential and commercial applications.

The flat chord wood web floor trusses have a minimum depth of 18", while the Posi-Strut are available with depths of 11-7/8", 14" and 16".

The advantages of floor truss systems over conventional floor framing is the greater spans that can be achieved as well as the benefit of open web design for electrical, plumbing, heating and ventilation runs through the trusses. Quicker installation of materials by all trades means lower installation costs.
